Open Data Protocol and the eBay API
We at eBay are always on the lookout for new technology and innovation to work with, add to our repertoire and introduce to you, our developers.
Most recently, we have been looking into The Open Data Protocol (OData), whic h is a Web protocol for querying and updating data that provides a way to unlock your data and free it from silos that exist in applications today. OData offers a standardized way for programmable data to be made available across the web.
To learn more about the OData protocol, you can browse the OData site or read this brief Q&A.
Last week, at Microsoft ‘s Professional Developers Conference, an implementation of the OData protocol built upon the eBay’s existing APIs like Findings and Trading was demoed during the first keynote. This was the first public showing of this implementation.
Want to learn more? Go to the eBay OData API documentation page to get additional information about this particular implementation and how to consume data from eBay but in this case taking advantage of the OData protocol.
