New "Price Plus Shipping" Sort Options for Search Calls--Coming in September

Two new sorting options for Search results, PricePlusShippingAsc and PricePlusShippingDesc, are currently in testing on the eBay site.  For details on the original announcement of this feature, see Kristina Klausen's message from eBay Live 2007.  If the tests are successful, the sorting options will be enabled in (GetSearchResults, GetCategoryListings and FindItemsAdvanced) by September 2007.  This new feature will allow sorting items by the sum of the item cost and default shipping cost.

To prepare for this feature, eBay sellers are encouraged to include at least one valid ShippingServiceOption in listings.  Items that do not  specify shipping information using the ShippingServiceOption feature may sorted lower than expected in eBay search results.  Detailed behavior of the new sorting options includes:

PricePlusShippingAsc Sort: Items will appear in the order of lowest-total-cost (for items where shipping was properly specified), then freight-shipping items, then items for which shipping was not specified (sorted by price).

PricePlusShippingDesc Sort: Items will appear in the order of highest-total-cost (for items where shipping was properly specified), then freight-shipping items, then items for which shipping was not specified (sorted by price).

Ridiculous!

The high USPS rates are killing us now!

How can you offer shipping discounts when you have 100's of items that weigh a couple of ounces upwards to 10 pounds?

Tell me how a seller can afford to ship a 5 pound item at the USPS rate and ship a similar item weighing 5 pounds and offer to ship the additional item for a dollar!

Do you people that are trying to justify your jobs...live in the real world. Or on planet your anus?
