eBay policy update: Auction Extensions now prohibited

Developers building applications using eBay Web Services APIs should be aware that eBay has recently updated its Fee Circumvention policy. This update clarifies eBay's position that auction extensions and third party auction extender tools are no longer permitted on the eBay marketplace.

Auction extensions that extend the duration of an auction, whether automatic or manual, disrupt normal bidding patterns and create a negative buyer experience.

Developer Impact: Developers whose applications enable auction extensions should discontinue this functionality and any development of this functionality. We also recommend alerting your customers to this policy update through your customer communication channels.

Developers should read the Announcement Board post for additional information on our Fee Circumvention policy. If you have specific questions about this policy update as it relates to your application or the deadline for shutting down auction extension functionality, contact us at developer-relations AT eBay.com.
